  • Tamilnadu ranks second in the no:of suicides.
  • Highest rated age group is between 15 years and 29 years.
  • Average 381 Suicides daily in India in 2019 with the numbers still being increased.
  • A 3.4% increase was observed in suicides during:
  • 2019:- 1,39,123 suicides.
  • 2018: – 1,34,516 suicides.
  • 2017: – 1,29,887 suicides

On behalf of the Ministry of Women and Children Development to celebrate 151st Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, Department of Social Welfare, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Project Future India Trust, Namdhesam Foundation has celebrated the Girl Children promoting the programme Beti Bachao Beti Padao (BBBP) for ensuring equal opportunities to the daughters of India, empowering them and making them self-reliant to bring about equality and empower our girls by combating against deep rooted socio-cultural biases and gender discrimination over a life cycle continuum.

In order to bring visibility and create awareness about the value of girl child today we inaugurated the event screening Thiru. C.KAMARAJ, IAS, Director of Backward Welfare, sir’s audiovisual on empowering girl children. The chief guest for today’s program is Ms. JAYALAKSHMI, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Against Women and Children Wing. We finally took Oath in front of her to Celebrate the Girl Child and Enable Her Education.

We would wholeheartedly like to thank Ms. JAYALAKSHMI, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Against Women and Children Wing, for being our Chief Guest today, who gave her valuable time for us and made this program a grand success. We were overwhelmed and excited by her surprise presence. We would also like to thank Inspector Gajalakshmi, Crime Against Women and Children Wing JAPU-2 and Inspector K. C. Shree Devi, Crime Against Women and Children Wing, JAPU-1 who had been continuously supporting us in creating online awareness on the CHILD SAFETY and EMPOWERMENT.

We take this moment to thank and express our gratitude to Thiru. C. KAMARAJ, IAS, Director of Backward Welfare for his special Audiovisual message promoting the importance of girl children, Thiru. GANESH MOORTHY Sir, Superintendent, Department of Social Defence and Thiru. Senthilvel, Journalist and Thiru.
