TREE PLANTATION ACTIVITY at the Newly Built Building -Government Children Home for Girls, Kellys, Chennai
An Initiative to Promote the International Girl Children Day
October 4, 2020, Sunday at 2 pm
As per the request of the Department of Social Defence, Chennai, Project Future India Trust took initiative to plant varieties of Trees and Plants that will include Ornamental Plants, Medicinal Herbs and Shrubs, and annual, biennial and perennial trees and plants that will yield fruits. We are working towards the rehabilitation and reintegration of the Juvenile Children in the various Child Care Institutions at Chennai. This initiative will be continued to empower the children in order to help them fetch their livelihood after leaving the Government Homes as an Aftercare Program initiative.
Once the trees and plants have started growing, they will be maintained by the children in the Girls Home. We are also planning to teach them Vermicompost technology, where the girls will be taught to make vermicompost out of the vegetable waste and other food waste. Once they learn this technology, they will be able to produce the organic manures without investment with just the vegetable and food wastes and cow dung. They can start their own manure shops and nurseries through which they can earn and sustain their livelihood.
